I remember how all of the news anchors, TV personalities, actors, comedians and you name it were showing the signs of not having their glam team available to them. Besides the ways to dye your hair with out an over the counter hair dye or visits to your hairstylist, we have to also keep our hair healthy. These options are great and diverse enough to help with all hair types. These work for men and women alike so enjoy. Let us know if you try any of these game changing options. Keep in mind that you will see an immediate difference but will have to practice these for at least a month to really notice the difference. Once you see that they work just as good or even better than some products you use you will continue to use them for the long run. You will benefit from how inexpensive and easy it is to find these products. The biggest surprise is that most of these items you will find in your kitchen or your medicine cabinet.

MAYONNAISE      GOOD FOR MILDLY DRY HAIR. It is composed of oil, egg yolk and acid, either vinegar or lemon juice. There are vegan options as well that don't use the egg yolk. The combination of these items leave a silky hydrated feel to the hair. I have done this and my hair was silky for about two weeks even after washing.  I personally like a mayonnaise with out the vinegar.

This homemade recipe takes about 25 minutes and has four ingredients.

3 egg yolks, 2 tablespoons of water, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 cup of olive oil

Blend ingredients together and apply to hair covering it completely. Cover with a shower cap the  a towel on top of that to allow the heat from your hair to penetrate it. Leave this In for 20 minutes then rinse out. DO NOT SHAMPOO JUST RINSE OUT REALLY WELL. Do this on a day you are not going out so you can benefit from it over night. If you feel your hair is still really oily wrap your hair up in a wrap or fabric shower cap so you don't damage the  pillow.

If you want to use a store bought mayonnaise and your hair is breaking make sure to check the ingredients that it doesn't have vinegar. Use one cup of mayonnaise 1/2 cup of olive oil and three egg yolks. Blend all ingredients in a bowl and always use room temperature mayo.

Apply all over hair making sure to add extra to the ends and cover hair with a shower cap then wrap with a towel. The heat from your head will help penetrate it better into your hair. Leave this on for at least 20 minutes and then rinse out. You can use any left over mixture as a face mask. FOLLOW THE RINSE INSTRUCTIONS MENTIONED ABOVE.

TIPS TO REMEMBER FOR ALL HAIR CAR, WARM/HOT OPENS THE HAIR FOLICLES. COLD WATER CLOSES THE FOLICLE. SO AFTER YOU WASH YOUR HAIR BLLAST IT WITH THE COLDEST WATER YOU CAN STAND TO GET YOUR HAIR SUPER SHINY.

ADVOCADO     GOOD FOR FRIZZY HAIR. This hair mask is awesome to use if your hair gets frizzy during the summer months. It also helps with brittle hair.

NATURAL HAIR CARE Avocad10

This hair mask takes about five minutes to prepare.

1 large egg, 1 whole ripe avocado (large) or two small ones, 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Mash avocado till most of the lumps are gone. Beat the egg then add it to the avocado. Mix well. Add the olive oil and mix till all the ingredients are blended well. Apply to your hair and cover with a shower cap then a towel.  Let it sit in your hair for at least 30 minutes. Rinse well then shampoo and condition as normal. For added benefits just rinse well and shampoo the next day.

SHEA BUTTER     BEST FOR DRY THICK HAIR. If you have oily hair or skin this is not recommended for you. Shea butter can be heavy and weigh down your thin hair. and make it greasier. The Shea butter will get onto your skin and it will be more oily than you would like it to be. The benefits are so amazing that I recommend to try very small amounts to moisturize hair then wash it out as you normally would with a mild shampoo and conditioner.

For thick course hair apply a dime size amount on your palm and rub your palms together until you have liquified the butter. Apply to your hair in small sections combing through your hair after each separation. I your hair is long use a brush to comb the Shea butter through to avoid breaking your hair. If you feel the Shea butter is too oily or heavy for your hair, Shea oil is a good alternative.

COCONUT OIL HAIRMASK.     BEST FOR CURLY, DRY AND PRONE TO BREAKING HAIR.

This mixture takes about two minutes to prepare.

1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon raw honey

Add coconut oil and honey to a saucepan and heat it on low heat until smooth. Keep stirring till well combined.

Let the mixture cool down until it is lukewarm.  Now it is ready to use.

First mist your curly hair with water. Apply generously to hair and cover with a shower cap then a towel. Allow to sit in your hair for at least 40 minutes. Rinse out with lukewarm water then shampoo and condition as you normally would.

You can also add a beaten egg after the above mixture has cooled and follow the same procedure for applying as mentioned above. Adding egg to any hair mask you introduce biotin, Vitamins A and E and folate to name a few nutrients that help keeps hair thick and healthy. Also makes hair look leek and shiny.

ALOE VERA.     PROVIDES HEALING AND NOURISHMENT.

Give your hair follicles some extra TLC once a week by rubbing a palm sized amount of aloe vera gel all over your scalp. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes then rinse and shampoo. Store bought aloe vera gel works great but can be made at home for a lot less. Click the link below to see how to make the aloe vera gel.

This hair mask will add body to your hair which will help thinning hair look thicker.

This takes about five minutes to prep and 10 minutes to cook.

2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon of grated ginger

Heat the olive oil on low heat and add the ginger. Once the ginger turns brown remove from heat and allow to cool. Strain the ginger out of the oil and now you've got yourself ginger infused hair oil. Apply to your scalp for five to ten minutes and cover with a shower cap for penetration. Shampoo and condition hair as normal. Apply to hair twice a month. For longer hair you can double the recipe  by using twice the amount of the ingredients. Store in a small spray bottle.
